In the mid-90s in Vietnam, young Vu, a student photographer, decides to emigrate from the countryside to the city of Saigon. There he meets Thang, who convinces Vu to have a vasectomy and collect the money the government pays for it.

Hard to recommend this film. The vision is a bit grainy, it’s very episodic – looking at the lives of very poor people who never have enough money – there’s quite a bit of violence and the story of Vu and Thanh is almost incidental to everything else, and we only see them together a few times, with no romance between them. I’m not sure why this film even made it on to this site.
