Set in 1980 in an imaginary Saigon, Song Lang is a gritty thriller that hides a tender and romantic background. The film shows the curious relationship that arises between the burly and taciturn Dung (Lien Binh Phat), a tough debt collector for a ruthless loan shark, and Linh Phung (famous V-pop singer Isaac), a charismatic young opera singer from a struggling company performing Cai Luong, a modern version of traditional Vietnamese folk opera.
