Spa Night – Eng Sub
An American teenager of Korean origin starts working at a spa in Los Angeles. These venues are, for many families of Korean origin, a meeting point and a bridge between the past and the future. For this young man it also means the discovery of a semi-clandestine world of homosexual encounters that both scares and attracts him.

I feel so sorry for the son. So much pressure to carry expectations of parents who never even ask what he wants for his own life. What’s worse is you can tell it never even occurs to them to ask. At least the father showed an inkling of emotional concern, despite being prideful. The mother was so oblivious and entitled that even her soft, caring demeanor felt overbearing. Overall, it’s a good movie that forces you to pay attention to subtle clues. The son doesn’t do a whole lot of talking.
